Father-son team grows close by building tuned Porsche

Porsche 911 father-son project

We've seen several heartwarming videos of kids bonding over cars with their parents, whether racing together or giving them as gifts. The story of Leh Keen and his father McGrath, though, is somewhat different. Not many dads are looking for a vehicle quite this mental.

As Leh tells it, his dad saw a video online of one of the wild Porsches from Japanese tuner Rauh-Welt Begriff and decided that he needed one of the creations in his own garage. Since Leh knows something about cars himself as a driver for Alex Job Racing in the United SportsCar Championship, McGrath put his son in charge of managing the build from the company.

When the car made it to the US for completion from Rauh's famed builder Nakai, father and son bonded over the red, widebody 993-platform 911. The final product is certainly eye-catching. Scroll down to watch the video that features not only an engrossing father-son tale but also a seriously wicked, tuned Porsche from one of Japan's finest.

Vandoleros Club proves vans are still rockin’

Screenshot from a short film on the Vandoleros by eGarage

That last time vans - not minivans, real 'man vans' - were cool for carrying anything other than cargo or clandestine operatives, the public didn't know what the Internet was, "Daisy Duke" referred to a character and not her jean shorts, and BA Baracus was pitying fools once a week on national television.

But don't tell that to the Vandoleros, a Los Angeles-based brotherhood of the van that lavishes the same attentions on Sixties and Seventies tall metal boxes from Chevrolet, Ford and Dodge that we're used to seeing from Porschephiles and vintage car owners. Members discovered their van love early, back in a time when a guy in a van could roll down the street in your neighborhood honking his horn and a horde of kids would climb in and be taken to the drive-in... then be returned home safely. We'd love to find a place in America where this is still practiced.

While we begin our search, you can watch the boys in the van gang in the video below - just be forewarned, there is quite a bit of foul language.

eGarage takes a look at J&L Fabricating, comes away with warm hearts

J&L Fabricating

"It's one thing to put a car together, it's another thing to make it work." Truer words have never been spoken, and in the case of Louie Shefchik of J&L Fabricating, the man who opens the video below with those words, 'making it work' has practically been elevated to an art form.

From humble beginnings - a garage back behind the duplex in which Louie and his wife Jeanette lived - J&L has grown to become a highly respected track-side crew that keeps its clients' vintage race cars on the track and competitive. And, judging by the commentary of his customers, friends and family, he's a downright great person.

Check out the video below for the complete story of J&L Fabricating from eGarage.

eGarage sits in with Richard Griot

Next stop on the eGarage video tour is Richard Griot, eponymous founder of Griot's Garage. His company makes car care products and sells all manner of accessories for the "garage lifestyle," and the company motto is "Have fun in your garage." That can't be a hard thing to do judging by what's in Griot's own workspace, with a Ferrari Formula One car driven by Michael Schumacher sharing space with McLarens, Cobras, Mustangs, BMWs, Porsches, and at least one vintage Lamborghini.

Griot says that "At the end of the day, I sell fun." It looks like he has a lot, too. You can hear him talk about his passion for collecting in the video below.
