eBay Find of the Day: 2004 Ascari F/GT prototype with 0 miles [w/videos]

Noble Ascari Prototype

Prototype cars are always especially interesting because they show all of the designer's original intentions before the necessities of production forced changes. That is exactly the case for this Ascari F/GT prototype penned by British supercar specialist Lee Noble that is currently for sale on eBay Motors. It has never been registered and never been significantly driven, according to the seller.

Noble is likely best known for his eponymous Noble Automotive company, but earlier in his career, he designed the F/GT. However, he left Ascari before manufacturing began, and production versions have a somewhat different design.

The seller claims that this is one of three F/GT cars in the States and the only US-spec prototype. A mid-mounted Ford 4.7 4.6-liter V8 with around 400 horsepower paired to a Porsche five-speed transaxle motivates the rear wheels. The body is made from unstressed fiberglass laid over a high-carbon steel spaceframe, but the rear wing, rear valence panel and dashboard are made from carbon fiber, according to the seller. The interior offers some conveniences, with leather-covered sport seats, air conditioning and an Alcantara-trimmed dashboard.

With any one-off, prototype car like this, it is absolutely vital to confirm the facts about the car before buying. For instance, the seller lists the car as a 2004 model, but cursory research indicates production ended in the late '90s when the model was supplanted by the fixed-headlamp Ecosse. Bidding currently sits at $60,200 with 20 bids and about 4 days to go, but the reserve is not yet met. If the rest of the story checks out, this looks like it could be a fun piece of '90s supercar history. Scroll down to watch videos of the car starting up, revving and a walk-around.

UPDATE: The engine is a 4.6-liter Ford V8, not a 4.7-liter V8 as originally written.

eBay Find of the Day: 1985 Honda City Turbo II is JDM forbidden fruit you can own

1985 Honda City Turbo II Bulldog

It's always fun to cruise different global eBay Motors sites and check out the cars that we never got here. Thankfully, America's 25-year import limit on cars means that some of the rarities from the 80s are finally legal on these shores. This 1985 Honda City Turbo II is a great example of a fun, little car that we never got new but can be made legal here now.

The City was basically the Japanese company's '80s equivalent of today's Fit, albeit significantly smaller. The little urban runabout was so popular in its basic form that Honda decided to take things up a notch and turbocharge it. That car sold enough to warrant an even higher performance version called the Turbo II, which added an intercooler and the flared fenders you see here. The latter helped it earn the nickname "bulldog" for its boxy, aggressive appearance.

Honda claimed at the time that its little 1.2-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder produced 109 horsepower and 118 pound-feet of torque with a five-speed manual. In a car that weights just 1,620 pounds, you can imagine it was a very entertaining little package.

This particular car features a black interior with blue and gray sport seats, which are hidden under some ugly vinyl seat covers. It also has some very '80s features like a digital speedometer and an upgraded stereo that appears to be from sometime during the Me Decade.

What's especially nice about this example is that thanks to the America's 25-year auto import rule, the seller, Japanese Customs, says it is completely road legal. The auction listing notes that the comes with the U.S. Customs Release, Virginia title and registration. While bidding current sits at $4,050 with five days to go and no reserve, the seller is asking $8,950 for the car from its website, so it might be possible to pick it up at a bargain.

eBay Find of the Day: Well-done Detomaso Pantera GT5-S custom

1972 DeTomaso Pantera show car for sale on eBay, front three-quarter view

Back when it wasn't so easy for a visionary gent to build his own supercar (but the results were just as mixed as today), Alejandro DeTomaso managed to maintain production of the DeTomaso Pantera for 20 years - and that was his third car. This 1972 DeTomaso Pantera GT5-S 'Prototipo' one-off
being auctioned on eBay Motors has is said to have won numerous trophies, including Best of Show in the Pantera division at the prestigious Concorso Italiano. Even if you're not on board with the polished wheels setting off the claimed $60,000 in bodywork, the workmanship appears top-notch, as is the the white-striped House of Kolors Candy Blue paint job. This Pantera is claimed to have just 19,000 original miles.

Behind the cabin is a polished 7.2-liter V8 from Pantera Motorsports dubbed "the Hammer," pushing out more than 600 horsepower even before you flip the switch on the nitrous setup with two tanks. It looks like nothing has been left untouched, with leather-wrapped cabin set off by white-faced gauges and turned aluminum, custom mirrors and turn signals, a Wilwood racing brake system and a trunk that's full of Alpine and Kenwood electronics.

The Buy It Now price is $99,500. If this sort of thing is your bag, it might not be too late to return all of your Christmas gifts for a down payment.

eBay Find of the Day: 1981 DeLorean with 570-hp twin-turbo Buick V6 [w/videos]

DeLorean Twin-Turbo

"Are you telling me that you built a time machine... out of a DeLorean?" So asked one Marty McFly of his mentor Dr. Emmett Brown, who replied: "The way I see it, if you're gonna build a time machine into a car, why not do it with some style?"

Doc Brown was right, of course: with an exotic mid-engine layout, gullwing doors and stainless steel body, the DeLorean DMC-12 sure looked the part. It just needed a little more juice. Well this one might not have 1.21 gigawatts of time-bending power - that'd be more than one and a half million horsepower - but it does have more than the 150 hp in the the standard 2.8-liter V6.

DeLorean Twin-TurboThat's because this particular DeLorean has had its stock Peugeot Renault Volvo engine swapped out for a Buick-sourced, all-aluminum, 4.3-liter V6 from the Grand National. Dutteiller Performance didn't leave the engine in stock form, either: while they were swapping it out, they added a pair of turbochargers, new pistons, crank, cams and much, much more.

The result is an engine dyno'd at a massive 708 horsepower and tuned to deliver 570 hp. Dubbed the World's Fastest DeLorean, it was featured on Drive TV in an episode of Tuned you can view below along with another slideshow of the engine build. And best of all, it can be yours: it's for sale on eBay Motors with less than 37,000 miles on the odometer, with bids currently standing at $13,300 as we go to press.

eBay Find of the Day: 1994 Dodge Viper RT/10 with 504 miles

It's typically hard to find early examples of the Dodge Viper that haven't been crashed or modified, but one eBay seller has a showroom-fresh version of the V10 roadster up for sale worthy of an eBay Find of the Day.

With just 504 miles on the odometer (according to the description and not the images) and "no defects at all," this 1994 Viper is a rare find indeed. Tack on the Buy It Now price of just $37,500 and it seems like a steal - especially when checking out the prices and conditions of other early Vipers currently listed on eBay.

Even after spending months ogling the all-new 2014 SRT Viper, it's hard to ignore the raw beauty of the original open-top model. From the three-spoke wheels to the calf-searing side pipes, everything about this Viper looks just the way it did when it rolled off the line almost 20 years ago. The seller even says that the top and windows have never been installed meaning there are no scratches anywhere on this car!

eBay Find of the Day: Untitled 1990 Mosler Consulier Targa [w/video]

Mosler Consulier Targa from eBay Motors

No one will look at this 1990 Mosler Targa (a.k.a. Consulier GTP), read that just 100 examples of the car were built between 1985 and 1993, and still wonder why no more were sold. To put it bluntly: this is one of the ugliest cars ever to turn a wheel in anger. Its ungainly silhouette, parts bin accessories and staggeringly shaped glasshouse all seem to scream, "Buy another car."

Of course, something this ugly ends up being downright intriguing, especially when you learn that all that fugly covers up some pretty serious performance. There's a tuned Chrysler 2.2-liter turbo four-cylinder sitting amidships in the Mosler's carbon-fiber monocoque chassis, and the car was among the first ever production vehicles to employ both CF and Kevlar in the construction of its body panels. The result was an ultra-lightweight car that was wicked-fast for its day. In fact, company owner Warren Mosler once famously offered a bounty for anyone that could pilot a street-legal production car around a track quicker than the GTP, and it (along with the Mosler Intruder and Raptor models it inspired) so dominated One Lap Of America for a period of years in the late '90s that it was eventually banned.

This example on eBay Motors can be found in Florida, and seems to be in remarkably good shape. The car has never been titled, presumably racking up the 11k miles it has on the odo during closed track sessions. There's no Buy It Now price on this ultra-rare, ultra-ghastly Mosler, but we've got to believe that it's worth a lot more than the starting bid of $10,000. Bid with your heart, not with your eyes. Oh, and if seeing the thing isn't enough, scroll down to see a video of the Mosler in action, complete with a bitch'n Journey score.

eBay Find of the Day: Peel P50 replica helps you commute like Jeremy Clarkson [w/video]

1963 Peel P50 replica - front three-quarter view

Fans of Top Gear should have no trouble remembering the Peel P50. The infamous mini-minicar was first introduced in the early 1960s (and recently brought back into production), and starred in the now-infamous Top Gear test where host Jeremy Clarkson drove the tiny car through the offices of the BBC.

Now, you, too, can get on the same sort of minuscule commuting action with this 1963 Peel P50 replica, available on eBay Motors for the Buy It Now price of $27,000. This P50 was built by Andy Carter's Modern Microcars UK, imported to the United States in 2009, and is currently registered and plated in California. It features a period-correct interior and exterior, but is now powered by a 200cc four-stroke Honda kart engine. Buying this P50 replica also gets you the super cute 1963 Czech PAV single-wheel steel-body trailer seen here, completely restored with a new stainless-steel frame.

Sure, $27,000 is a high price to pay for what's essentially a street-legal novelty item, but remember, you can't drive even the smallest of today's cars through the hallways of your office. Check out the P50 in our gallery above and scroll down to watch six-foot-five Jeremy Clarkson spend a day behind the wheel of the world's tiniest car.

eBay Find of the Day: 2002 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR Roadster… in Arkansas?

The Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR was built as a race car for the FIA GT Championship series in 1997. To meet homologation requirements, a total of 26 road-going vehicles were built in the following years. The rarest were the open-roof roadster models, of which only six were made. While 24 of the street-legal cars were fitted with a 6.9-liter V12, good for more than 600 horsepower, two were upgraded to "CLK GTR Super Sport" configuration with a 7.3-liter V12 rated at 655 horsepower. Performance was spectacular, with a 0-60 sprint of about 3.7 seconds and a top speed of just over 200 miles per hour.

The original sticker price for the CLK GTR Super Sport, more than a decade ago, was $1,547,620 - dissuading most of us from buying one. But if you missed out last time, we just found a clean example that has apparently been sitting inside a showroom in Arkansas waiting for a new owner. It is reportedly the only roadster currently in the United States. Federalized and street legal, its odometer shows only 70 delivery miles (are we the only ones who consider it a shame nobody has ever enjoyed wringing it out?). Fresh off an extensive factory service, this museum piece boasts a Buy it Now price of $1,995,980. So much for depreciation, eh?

[Update: One of our readers correctly pointed out that the car has depreciated... as its original selling price of $1.547 million is $2.2 million in today's money!]

eBay Find of the Day: Supercharged MG TC with five-speed

As the story goes, it was United States GIs, stationed in Great Britain during World War II, who first fell in love with the MG marque. There they saw, drove and were smitten by the MG T-Series roadsters. After the war, thousands of enthusiasts drove and raced cars like this 1948 MG TC here in the US - no less than Formula One's Phil Hill and the late Dean of Automotive Journalism, David E. Davis, Jr., found the cars to be willing companions.

So you can rest assured, at least, that if you were to pick up this very excellent MG example from eBay Motors, you'll be in excellent company.

By the looks of things, you'll have an excellent little British sports car, too. This particular TC has been fortified with a "Mirage Garage" supercharger, likely bumping up the very modest original output of the 1.3-liter four-cylinder from 45 horsepower to close to 70 hp. The current owner has also installed a five-speed Ford gearbox, likely making this TC quiet drivable by modern standards. The tan paint stripe down the side of the body, along with the non-stock internals will likely exclude the '48 from the love of concours judges, but driving is more fun than parking on grass, anyway.

An ambious asking price of $79,999 (or best offer) will scare away the faint of heart, but for those well-heeled and looking for a classic weekend diversion, you could do far worse.
