This or That 442 vs. BMW 635CSiWhich $10,000 '80s coupe would you choose?

In the end, there can be only one. And, while we've got another six days left in the balloting, one of these two vehicles is leading in the early running by about two to one. You can probably guess which it is. And that means, if you've got an opinion, feel free to cast a vote in favor of the 1980 Oldsmobile 442 or 1989 BMW 635CSi and help us crown a winner in our second-ever This or That vehicular showdown.

Mid-engine Porsche models at Laguna SecaMid-engine Porsche models at Laguna Seca

Porsche may be best known for the 911 - and rightly so, we may add - but the German automaker certainly knows a thing or two about moving the engine from the very back to the middle, where it's most beneficial for the type of driving an enthusiast is likely to do. To wit, take a look at this feature, where we dissect mid-engine Porsche models from the 550 all the way to the current, mind-bending 918.

Bugatti Veyron penis vandalismPenile pranksters punk a Bugatti Veyron

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. In the case of the Bugatti Veyron you see to the right, much fewer are needed. In fact, you really need only one: penis. But that's no fun. We had at least three alternative headlines written and discarded for this unfortunate image, and there are surely some inventive wordsmiths just itching for a caption contest...

1962 Ferrari 250 GTO sells for record $38M

A few decades ago you could buy a crappy NBA franchise for $40 million; these days that princely sum will only net you one Ferrari. Provided the Ferrari in question is just exactly the right model, that is. 250 GTO models from the 1962 vintage have been trading hands for silly money for quite some time, though no public sale has rung up for this much ever before. The Pebble Beach festivities are only now kicking off in Northern California, but this sale should give one hell of a start to the auction season.

Hyundai talks performance at Rally Finland

Traveling with Hyundai to check out the always-exciting Neste Oil Rally Finland, we came back with quite a few stories to tell. Keeping abreast of point totals is easy, but forecasting the near future for the WRC grid is both trickier, and more interesting. While we were at it, Hyundai just happened to drop a few tidbits about the future for its upcoming N performance brand, as well. Read it all, here.

The next Corvette ZR1 will be mid-engined

We know, we know. You first heard the legend of the upcoming mid-engined Chevy Corvette when you were just a babe at your grand pappy's knee. A few promising concept cars and decades worth of rumors have routinely been proved wrong for stories of this ilk, and yet, our friends at Motor Trend really do think that the engine of the next ZR1 might find itself behind the cockpit, when all is said and done. The truth is out there...

All hail the 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat

Now they've gone and done it. By dropping the ludicrous supercharged Hemi V8 from the Challenger Hellcat into the chassis of the four-door Charger, Dodge has created what it is calling the The World's Most Powerful Sedan. For those unaware, there are a total of 707 freaking horses stampeding under the long hood of the Charger you see to your right, all sent to the back wheels in what we imagine will result in the most glorious burnouts the world has ever seen.

2015 Subaru WRX long-term updateAutoblog long-term Subaru WRX

It's been lovely having the 2015 Subaru WRX in our long-term fleet. Even with terrible weather recently making things miserable for our Detroit crew, our WR Blue Subie didn't miss a beat, delivering our editorial staff to their desired destinations with plenty of turbocharged aplomb. But we've also been finding a few flaws with the darling 'Rex. Read all about 'em, here.

Mom surprised by new carSon surprises his mom with a 1973 Saab

Aww, shucks. While we start feverishly shoving pennies, nickels and dimes into a piggy bank in an effort to start saving up to buy our collective mothers their dream cars - my dear Mom would love to cruise her 'hood in a classic Beetle convertible - join us in watching the surprised reaction of one such mother as she's handed the keys to her own, a 1973 Saab 99 in a lovely shade of orange.

The 11 most expensive American carsBatmobile auction

Yes, we know. If you're looking for the most expensive cars in the world, you're probably limiting your search parameters to cars built in the country of Italy, home, of course, to Ferrari. We all know that. But what about America? The land of the free and home of the brave is rife with automobile history, and some of it is worth a heck of a lot of money. Plus, Batmobile.

First Ride: Energica EgoEnergica Ego

And now we travel back to the land of sausages and sports cars, except the subject we're focusing on today isn't a car at all. The Energica Ego hails from Italy, and gets its power courtesy of a high-tech lithium ion battery pack and a permanent magnet AC electric motor. It's quick, and it's a hoot to ride.

BMW carsBMW maintenance no longer transferable

BMW is altering the terms of its four-year, 50,000-mile Maintenance Program for new buyers. According to the automaker, the program can only be transferred to new owners if they live in the same household. As ever, there's plenty of fine print to read through, and you can find all the details by clicking on the link above.

Nissan Frontier diesel muleNissan lets us sample a diesel Frontier prototype

Hey. You. Yeah, you. Do you think Nissan should build a midsize pickup truck with a diesel engine? Yeah, so do we. And we just got the chance to drive just such a beast, though it's anything but a production model at this point. This particular example is fitted with a 2.8-liter four-cylinder from Cummins, and it puts out 200 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque, enabling it to tow as much as 7,000 pounds.

2016 Chevy Volt spy shot2016 Chevy Volt coming soon to an auto show near you... probably

There sure is a lot we don't know about the next generation of Chevy's extended-range electric vehicle. What we do know, though, is that it ought to be making its auto show debut sometime soon. How soon? Likely either Los Angeles later this year or else Detroit, Chicago or New York in early 2015, according to an anonymous source.

Blood muscle auctionBlood Muscle auction? Sounds terrible, looks awesome

It's nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction because the cars, which will be sold each to the highest bidders on September 12, were attained by the president of a blood-testing company who is now incarcerated for alleged bribery. There's a Boss Mustang, a trio of Yenko Chevrolets and our personal favorite, a Plymouth Superbird, among others, up for bidding.
